Monument to the Dead, Barcelonnette

This limestone monument, inaugurated in 1922, was made possible thanks to a large contribution by the city’s Mexican expatriates. Sadly, it is one of the too numerous memorials requested of sculptors at the time. We note the simple force of the two soldiers in their heavy uniform jackets and the friendly hand one rests on the other’s shoulder
